Maduru Oya National Park Safari
Established under the Mahaweli development project, Maduru Oya National Park is one of the not so famous national parks in Sri Lanka. Though it is not famous, the national park is 58,849 hectares, located in the dry zone while just being 314 km from Colombo and works as a sanctuary for wildlife.
The Maduru Oya National Park is famous for its Elephant habitat. You could also find Leopards, Sloth Bears, Sambhur, Spotted and Barking Deer, Wild Boar and Wild Buffalo. Other than the wild animals it is home for over 100 species birds such as Lesser Adjutant, Woolly necked stork, Openbill, painted stork, Racket tailed Drongo, Yellow-fronted barbet, Sri Lankajungle fowl and spur fowl.
Since the park in not very famous it is less crowded from tourist and you can enjoy safari peacefully.
